Intelmarx Announces Contest Winners

Two Non-Profit Organizations Win Thirty Page Website and Year of Hosting

(Altoona, PA - December 20, 2011) – Intelmarx has announced the winners of its free thirty page website contest. An Emergency Scene of Altoona and Jason and Nordic Publishers of Hollidaysburg each will each receive a free website along with one year of free web hosting, courtesy of Intelmarx, LLC.

The contest was open to any nonprofit organization registered in the US. Qualifying contestants were asked to post their story on the Intelmarx Facebook page, telling why they were deserving of a free website. The contest ended November 19 on which An Emergency Scene and Jason and Nordic Publishers were both declared the winners.

An Emergency Scene (AES), an independent concert promotion company, was formed in 2005. Their goal is to change and strengthen the local Altoona music community by holding live music shows in local venues.

“Giving guidance and positive reinforcement,” says Ryan Wapner, owner of the organization, “we would support their needs to rise above challenges they face by utilizing creative outlets to express themselves in productive ways.”

Since it began six years ago, AES has hosted and promoted a number of shows for many noteworthy musical acts including All Time Low, Punchline, and Story of the Year.

Jason and Nordic Publishers, publishers of the Turtle Books series, is a company dedicated to filling a gap in children’s literature. Their easy-to-read, honest and colorful stories aim to offer insights in dealing with children who have physical and mental disabilities.

The series consists of seventeen books, each which tells the story of a young child with a physical, mental and/or language impairment such as cerebral palsy, autism and Down syndrome.

Intelmarx, applying its strengths of marketing, technology and social interaction, will aid these two organizations in developing a website and integrating social media.

Intelmarx wins Management Contract for River City Brass Band

Intelmarx wins Management Contract for River City Brass Band

The management contract will put Intelmarx, LLC in the driver’s seat to help develop the fundraising, sponsoring, and grant efforts at River City Brass.
(Pittsburgh, PA - April 30, 2011) – Intelmarx, LLC has been awarded a management contract by the Pittsburgh based River City Brass Band.
The management contract will put Intelmarx, LLC in the driver’s seat to help develop the fundraising, sponsoring, and grant efforts at River City Brass.
“During these turbulent times arts organizations are being hit hard with traditional funding cuts,” explains George Sackandy, CEO and Founder of Intelmarx, LLC.  “Many art organizations are facing an enormous funding challenge. Reducing overhead and increasing non-traditional funding is the only way organizations like River City Brass can continue to offer their talents to the masses.  Our management contract does just that!”  Sackandy continues.
Intelmarx, LLC will review current development strategies, implement and manage needed changes to ensure a continuous bright future for River City Brass.
“Having Intelmarx, LLC focus on our development efforts allows River City Brass to focus on the arts,” says Carolyn Tuminella, Director of River City Brass.

About River City Brass
The River City Brass Band is a modified British-style brass band based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In addition to its accessible performance style, RCBB is renowned for its recordings and original compositions. Part of its mission is to propagate and promote the brass band through recordings and commissioning new works and arrangements. To date, RCBB has released fifteen recordings that are distributed nationally and internationally. The band annually performs nearly sixty concerts in the Pittsburgh area. RCBB differs from most brass bands in that the instrumentation has been altered. French Horns are used instead of tenor horns, and a soprano trumpet is employed in place of a soprano cornet. The result is a lighter, brighter, more "orchestral" sound than the traditional brass band. On April 29, 2010 the band appointed James Gourlay of the world-famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band of South Yorkshire, United Kingdom as its new conductor. www.rivercitybrass.org

Intelmarx, LLC Recognizes National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Intelmarx, LLC Recognizes National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

(Altoona, PA - October 2, 2010) – October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). Since the program began in 1985, mammography rates have more than doubled for women age 50 and older and breast cancer deaths have declined.

This is exciting progress, but there are still women who do not take advantage of early detection methods at all and others who do not get screening mammograms and clinical breast exams at regular intervals.

Women age 65 and older are less likely to get mammograms than younger women, even though breast cancer risk increases with age.
Hispanic women have fewer mammograms than Caucasian women and African American women. Women below the poverty level are less likely than women at higher incomes to have had a mammogram within the past two years. Mammography use has increased for all groups except American Indians and Alaskan Natives.

The American Cancer Society suggests mammography screening is to be done routinely – once is not enough.

For more information about NBCAM, please visit www.nbcam.org.  For additional information, please call one of the following toll-free numbers: American Cancer Society, (800) 227-2345, National Cancer Institute (NCI), (800) 4-CANCER, Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, (800) 221-2141.

About National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month program is dedicated to increasing public knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Fifteen national public service organizations, professional associations, and government agencies comprise the Board of Sponsors, who work together to ensure that the NBCAM message is heard by thousands of women and their families.

The Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) is an interpretative facility for the unique Presque Isle Peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Erie.  The multi-use building not only serves as a visitor's center at the gateway to the park, but houses interactive exhibits, educational facilities, administration for various governmental and conservation entities, and laboratories designed for Great Lakes research initiatives.
